"Super Hunter" Monoprint Background by Donna Salazar
Hello my peeps! I'm sharing a couple Quick Craft Tips for you today. This layout is of a photo that I took of my grandson in 2015 as he was running to the playground at the park. I love this layout. It is so fun and happy!
The first tip I have for you is to use "pick up prints" made using the Gel Press reusable gel printing plates as backgrounds for your art journal pages, cards or scrapbook pages. I had a VERY dirty plate. All I added was yellow paint and all of these amazing layers of pattern and paint came up with the print.
You can watch a video that I created using the new Rose Mandala Impressable plate from Gel Press on their Youtube page here. "Girlie Grunge Pick Up Prints by Donna Salazar" And a video of the project that I made here: "Girlie Grunge Pick Up Print Mason Jar by Donna Salazar"
The second tip is an easy peasy one... but sometimes these are the most useful. This is a trick that I learned years ago from my friend, Leah Fung, and I still use it to this day. If you want to ink the edges of small items, try using a permanent marker. Just place the item (in this case word strips for the journaling)on a scratch piece of paper and run the marker along the edge. It gives you the PERFECT inked edge! I then just flipped the word strips over and added E-Z Runner® Ultra to the back so extra adhesive would be stuck to the scratch paper.
I love the way the layout looks but the journaling is my favorite part! It says:
Faster than a running parent
More powerful than the average toddler
Able to leap into every puddle he comes across
Look! Up on the slide,
It's a boy!
It's Super Hunter!
I used a matching monoprint to die cut into the title. I used an OLD die set "Donna's Alphas" from Spellbinders for the title. I also used the E-Z Stars Runner with star shaped double sided adhesive with my "Denim" colored Mix'd Media Inx Embossing Powder for the star embellishments.
I used my vintage Dymo labeler for his name...
The photo below is a close up of all the layers of goodness that I was able to pick up on this print.
The photo below is another close up of the layout background and you can also see that I used Creative Photo Corners to adhere the monoprint to the card stock.
And here is the final layout again.
