3D Mixed Media "Confetti Party" by Donna Salazar
Hello my peeps! I've got a cool 3D Mixed Media canvas and frame to share with you today! I actually made this quite a while ago but filed the photos away on my computer and forgot to post it. I found it when I was cleaning up my files yesterday and I wanted to share it with everyone. There isn't a tutorial but I have a lot of close ups for you.
For the base I painted and distressed an inexpensive wooden frame. I decoupaged a 5x7 canvas board and added denim piping around the edges. I made fringe with crepe paper party streamers and created a paper ruffle from book pages. I adhered the fringe and paper ruffle to the back of the canvas board then adhered the canvas board to the wooden frame and inked them up with Mix'd Media Inx. The quote says "I've decided that the stuff falling through the cracks is confetti...
... and I'm having a party!" This is pretty fitting right now too since I'm working hard to get things finished before CHA... which is NEXT WEEK!!! ugh... so not ready... I inked the edges of the quote strips with Mix'd Media Inx and decoupaged them to the canvas board with diluted Girlie Grunge Art Medium.
The inspiration for this canvas was these three paint brushes. They were left in paint or resin and were unusable so I wanted to make something with them instead of just throw them out. I prettied them up with lots of ribbon and crochet flowers and a bow made with my organza that gets wonderfully wonky when you heat it with a heat gun.
I also added a die cut stamped image using my Embroidered Flowers stamp and die set from Spellbinders. I have two different sets like this and I LOVE them because I'm too chicken to stamp right on my projects and detail cutting them would take forever... but stamping and die cutting them with this set is super duper fast and easy! I used Mix'd Media Inx CHOX to stamp the image.
You can see a little bit of it peeking out from underneath too. You can also see the denim ribbon, and lace ribbon that I added. I used Premium Double Sided Tape in 1" behind the lace ribbon then burnished glitter into the adhesive to get the glittered lace effect.
And this is a close up of the Girlie Grunge Gauze and Girlie Grunge Twine that is mixed in with the flowers and bow. They are stiffened with my Girlie Grunge Art Medium... which has a million and one uses. Well, maybe not that many but you can use it for so many things. You can see my top 5 favorite uses on my blog post here: Girlie Grunge Art Medium - Donna's Five Favorite Techniques
And that is all she wrote! I hope you liked all the close ups of this little beauty.
Thanks for stopping by! Smooches ~D~
