A Fun Stamping Technique by Donna Salazar
Hello everyone! I've been playing in my studio and thought I'd share a fun new technique of stamping onto monoprints made with the Gel Press. I used my Gold Pigment Powder from the Donna Salazar with Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® mixed with clear embossing powder from Clearsnap® sprinkled over Mix'd Media Inx in Truffle from Colorbox®. The stamp is actually a stamp and die set called Flower Bouquet from Spellbinders®.
I began by die cutting the backgrounds out of plain manilla shipping tags. I created a design on the Gel Press Plate then places several of the backgrounds onto the plate to get several unique backgrounds. I then added the Mix'd Media Inx to the stamp (for this technique to work you need pigment based ink that will stay wet long enough to hold the embossing powder).
I placed the background face down on the stamp, then placed a clear stamp block over it and pressed it down evenly over the face of the stamp.
I mixed 2 parts clear embossing powder with 1 part Gold Pigment Powder then sprinkled it over the stamped image.
Carefully holding the die cut by the edges, I tapped off the excess powder then returned the powder to its container.
I heated the powder until the image became smooth and shiny.
I brushed off the excess Pigment Powder with a soft brush to reveal the detailed embossing with the gorgeous printed background showing through. The photo below shows the result of the Truffle Mix'd Media Inx image (in front) as well as another image that was stamped with Honey Mix'd Media Inx (underneath) so that you can see the difference that the color of the Inx gives you.
I hope you enjoyed this tutorial! Thanks for stopping by! Smooches ~D~
