Girlie Grunge Card with Flowers Two Ways
Hi my sweet crafting friends! It's Tracey here to share a new girlie grunge card with you.
I adore making handcrafted flowers and lately have been dabbling in learning watercolor techniques. Today I've combined the two for this sweet anniversary card. I just adore how the watercolor flowers pair with the dimensional rose.
Tips and Techniques
Here you can see how beautifully the dimensional flower cut with Donna's Spellbinders Big Blossom and Bitty Blossoms dies pairs with the watercolor flower stamped and die cut with her Spellbinders Embroidered Flowers Stamp/Die Combo.
This close-up show the delightful handcrafted blossom. I used one each of the Bitty Blossom die cuts with one of the Big Blossom cuts. I started by cupping the petals with a stylus, then rolled starting with wrapping the smallest around a cluster of stamen, working my way up to the largest die cut. I adhered them as I went with DODZ™ - 3D and Donna's Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® Dodz™ XL. I brushed the center petals with teal watercolor paint to coordinate with the watercolored flowers.
Donna recently used a technique that I've tried out and just adore. Did you know you can mix pigment powders into embossing powder? The luscious gold outline of this stamped image is a mix of Donna's Colorbox Jasmine Mix'd Media Inx Embossing powder combined with her Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® Gold Pigment Powder. I created a small amount of the mix (about 1/8 teaspoon) then stamped this gorgeous image with Jasmine Mix'd Media Ink, and sprinkled the mixture on before heat setting. I colored the image with watercolor markers and cut it out in a snap with the coordinating die.
I also used this technique on the background by combining Blue and Wine Pigment Powders with Jasmine Embossing Powder to heat emboss the chicken wire image.
I had a little of the purple embossing powder mix left, so I rubbed it across a Donna Salazar with Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® 3D Foam Swirl and heat embossed, then sprinkled with her Clearsnap Mixed Berries Twinkle Dust Glitter. Of course there's a length of Donna's gorgeous Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® Lace Ribbon tucked underneath the cluster.
Donna's Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® Girlie Grunge Art Medium is perfect for adhering the chunky stuff I like to sprinkle around my clusters. I thinned the Art Medium with water, brushed it around and sprinkled with chunky glass glitter. Used full strength, the medium will dry with a glossy finish and when thinned it dries with a matte finish.
The sentiment is stamped and heat embossed with Donna's Jasmine Mix'd Media Inx and Embossing Powder. The sentiment and background edges are inked with Donna's Wisteria Mix'd Media Inx.
I hope you've been inspired to grab your Donna Salazar products and combine techniques to create a card for someone special in your life.
