"Inspire" Girlie Grunge Layout

Hi Everyone! It's Tracey back to share a new project with you. We recently took a trip to San Antonio and while there visited the Alamo. This is a photo of the beautiful archway there.

"Inspire"

Tips and Techniques

I created these flowers using Donna's amazing Spellbinders dies. The larger focal flower combines her new Jumbo Steel Rule Die and classic Rose Creations. The remaining flowers are created with Donna's new Big Blossom Die and classic Bitty Blossoms Die set. These girlie flowers were grunged up by brushing with a mixture of Donna Salazar with Scrapbook Adhesives By 3L Pigment Powders and Girlie Grunge Art Medium. The darker color is a blend of brown and silver, and I mixed blue and green powders to coordinate with the background paper.

Here's another close-up focusing on the larger flower. Donna has a great video tutorial showing how to create these flowers. It can be viewed HERE. The chipboard leaves are edged with Donna's Clearsnap Truffle Mix'd Media Inx.

To bring in just a little patriotic feel for this historic page, I die cut Donna's Spellbinders Cascading Stars to tuck in behind and next to the photo. I'll let you in on a little secret. I have a tendency to mix up a bit more Pigment Powder/Girlie Grunge Art Medium "paint" than I need. Not wanting to let it go to waste, I used the extra dark mixture randomly on the stars, then I used the remaining green mixture to color these gorgeous flourishes. While the "paint" was still tacky, I rubbed brown Pigment Powder randomly over the green flourishes.

Here's a view of the smaller cluster. I still had a little more brown Pigment Powder mixture, so I watered it down and spattered the background paper. I also used some white ink from my stash to add some softer white spatter.

Two corners of the lovely background paper have steampunk gears and clocks, so I couldn't resist die cutting a few of Donna's Spellbinders Sprightly Sprockets gears to accent the fab images. I painted them with metallic gold and brown paint, then rubbed with silver and blue Pigment Powder.

I hope you've been inspired to grab your girlie grunge
