Hi everyone! It's Tracey back to share my latest project with Donna's fabulous products. I've used her Girlie Grunge Twine to create this sweet flower. I guest designed last month for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L and shared a video tutorial showing you how to make your very own twine flowers. You can view the video HERE. I've also featured Donna's Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L Pigment Powders to add color and shimmer to several of my elements.
Tips and Techniques
Here's a close-up of the twine flower. The center is a Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L DODZ™ - 3D covered in microbeads.
To create the back petals, I used one of Donna's Spellbinders Rose Creation dies to cut this flower from one of her Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L canvas Pennants. I blended wine and pink pigment powder into a dollop of Donna's Girlie Grunge Art Medium and brushed it across the die cut flower. As the medium dried, I curled and shaped the petals. I just adore how the color settled into the canvas for a grungy, mottled affect.
I have quite a collection of jewelry pieces I've accumulated over the years that I enjoy altering for my projects. This funky rose was silver along with some of the dangles. I painted them with white gesso, then mixed blue, silver, and gold pigment powders into a bit of Girlie Grunge Art Medium to create a lovely aqua blue paint to brush onto the gessoed surfaces.
I mixed up more pigment powder paint for the chipboard piece, this time in gold. I lightly dry brushed some of the extra aqua blue paint across the piece.
Here's one more way to use Donna's versatile Pigment Powders. I blended blue and gold Pigment Powder into light molding paste to stencil the chicken wire design onto the background. I also created a wash of gold Pigment Powder and water to brush over the stenciled design letting it settle into the crevices adding a lovely shimmer affect. I lightly inked the edges of the sentiment piece with Donna's Clearsnap Patina and Denim Mix'd Media Inx.
I hope you've been inspired to color your next project with Donna's Pigment Powders.
If you haven't tried them yet, these Girlie Grunge Twine Flowers are easy peasy
to create, but I must warn you, they are quite addicting.
Don't forget, you can view the flower tutorial HERE.
