Mixed Media Canvas for Charity Wings by Donna Salazar
October 8, 2016
Hello my peeps! Today I'm sharing the canvas that I made for The Charity Wings Art Center Vin d'Art auction that is taking place on October 15th. I believe that there may be a couple seats left if you want to attend this event and support this wonderful organization. You can call them at this number for more information: (760) 591-3010.
This is a 16x20 canvas. I made parts of the background and the dress with monoprints made with an 8x10 GelPress plate. I used my Lace Ribbon and Girlie Grunge Gauze to create texture on the print that I used to make the dress.
This is the print that I used for the dress. You can see the impressions from the lace and gauze.
This is the canvas with the pieces decoupaged onto it.
I dry brushed over the pieces with white and light blue acrylic paint.
I decoupaged her dress, her face, and the words with Girlie Grunge Art Medium. I used undiluted Art Medium to add the lace hair band, dress trim, and the scarf.
I drew the boots by hand, cut them out, colored them with my Mix'd Media Inx Chox then decoupaged them to the canvas. I used Spectrum Noir pens for the shading.
This is a close up of the lace trim and the lace impression on the print. While the Art Medium was still damp on the lace I brushed it with my Gold Pigment Powder.
I die cut a TON of Rose Creations and Carnation Creations flowers and added them to some flower stamens groups that I stiffened with the Art Medium to make into picks.
This is how the flowers look on the canvas. I heated Dodz Adhesive Dots 3D with a heat gun to adhere the flowers. I stiffened the lace bow with Girlie Grunge Art Medium.
This is a close up of the Girlie Grunge Gauze (stiffened with Girlie Grunge Art Medium) that I used to create the scarf. The gauze was colored because this is the piece that I used to create the texture on some of the prints.
