Hi everyone! It's Tracey back to share a sweet anniversary card with more of my handcrafted flowers using Donna's amazing Spellbinders® dies along with embossed texture and butterflies gilded with Donna's Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® Pigment Powders.
Tips and Techniques
This large focal rose is created with a combination of Donna's new Spellbinders® Big Blossom Die and Classic Bitty Blossoms Dies. I die cut one each of the 4 different size blossoms and rolled them into one large flower. I cupped the center flowers in towards the center and rolled a few of the outer petals out to create a cabbage rose effect. There are so many ways to finish off these flowers. I placed a pearl bead in the center and rubbed Pan Pastels across the flower to color the edges of the petals. I've mixed up the paper used so that the center is a lovely pink with the outer petals a soft yellow. One of Donna's Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® Dodz™ XL is perfect to adhere the flower to the card.
This is a great way to use up some of those older papers and scraps we all have laying around. I have a stash of Donna's retired paper and have die cut some of it up to create a collection of flowers in a variety of colors and sizes ~ so I have them ready to go for my projects.
The smaller flowers are die cut with the two larger Bitty Blossoms dies. For these I just used one die cut per flower.
Donna's Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® Girlie Grunge Art Medium dries perfectly clear, so is just right for adhering bling to the background around the clusters. Simply brush on the Art Medium (with an old paint brush) and sprinkle on a mixture of prills and chunky glass glitter.
I keep a bag of butterflies that are left over when I die cut Donna's fabulous Spellbinders® Cascading Butterflies. The ones I used here are cut from a book page, so were pretty flimsy. To give them more body so the wings would hold their shape, I mixed Gold and Wine Pigment Powder into Girlie Grunge Art Medium and brushed a couple coats onto the butterflies' fronts and backs. I just adore the grungie gilded look. To finish them off, I brushed some plain Art Medium down the center and dropped on some prills. **Tip** Adding Pigment Powder to Girlie Grunge Art Medium can thicken it. Add a spritz of water to thin it back to a consistency that's easy to brush.
I spritzed a bit of Donna's Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® Girlie Grunge Gauze with water and sprinkled it with Gold Pigment Powder. I rubbed the wet cloth into the powder to distribute it and color to gauze.
I simply adore how well Donna's Colorbox® Mix'd Media Inx stamps clearly to create sentiments. I used Adobe Inx. While the ink was still wet, I brushed on some Gold Pigment Powder. It's hard to see in the photo, but it shimmers and gleams in the light.
The background paper is embossed with Donna's new Spellbinders® Chicken Wire Embossing Folder and highlighted with Pan Pastels. I cut a panel of butterflies to layer on the left side and tucked a length of Donna's Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® Lace Ribbon under the edge. Of course I trimmed off the edge, distressed and colored the lace.
I hope you've been inspired to grab your Donna Salazar Products and create a handcrafted card for someone special in your life.
