"Love" Anniversary Card Featuring Handcrafted Flowers by Tracey Sabella
Hello my dear papercrafting friends! It's Tracey back to share a new project with you. Our son and his wife have their five year wedding anniversary coming up. He popped the big question out on the lake in his bass boat, so this sweet vintage image is just perfect! I adore creating handcrafted flowers with Donna's fabulous Spellbinders dies and have used a combination of her Jumbo Rose and Bitty Blossoms dies to create this cluster.
Tips and Techniques
This vintage card was calling for a cluster of sweet, soft flowers. The cluster is layered over Donna's Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L Girlie Grunge Gauze and organza ribbon from her Textured Ribbons pack. For added texture, I used molding paste to stencil a doily image onto the background.
I brushed Donna's Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L Girlie Grunge Art Medium below the cluster to adhere prills for lovely texture. Her Art Medium has a strong bond and dries clear, making it perfect for adhering those special added touches.
For this focal flower, I pulled out Donna's Jumbo Rose die to cut voile fabric petals. To curl the edges, I ran them close to a candle flame. There are two sizes of petals on this die, and I cut two of each size to create the outer petals of this flower. I centered it with the largest of Donna's Bitty Blossoms. I brushed the center of the Bitty Blossom with Donna's Girlie Grunge Art Medium and sprinkled with more of the Prills.
Below the focal flower, I've added two medium Bitty Blossom flowers. As you can see, they are cut from vintage dictionary pages.
I added texture in and around this resin frame, again using Girlie Grunge Art Medium.
I stamped this sentiment with Donna's ColorBox Jasmine Mix'd Media Inx, and heat embossed with Jasmine Mix'd Media Inx Embossing Powder. I used a scrap of paper that didn't quite match the background, so rubbed the embossed sentiment with layers of Verdigris, Patina, and Peridot Mix'd Media Inx to achieve a perfect match.
I hope you've been inspired to grab your Donna Salazar dies
to create some beautiful handcrafted flowers!
And if you haven't tried her Girlie Grunge Art Medium,
you'll find it's great for adhering those little texture bits
that are so hot in mixed media right now.
